Found on our GORE-TEX and GLCR styles, articulation seams are placed in high mobility areas for comfort, room for layering, and to maximize mobility.
The GORE-TEX membrane is created as a series of pores. Each pore is 20,000 times smaller than a water drop, yet large enough for vapor to pass through. This creates the ultimate membrane for keeping the inside of your garment dry while still allowing moisture and perspiration to pass through, effectively regulating your body temperature while keeping you comfortable inside your jacket or pants. GORE-TEX guarantees you will stay dry and warm in any condition, for the life of your garment. All GORE-TEX fabrics are bluesign® approved, meeting the highest environmental standards.
The seams where pieces of fabric are brought together are the most likely spot for moisture to intrude into a garment. The seam taping process prevents this by making the seams as waterproof as their surrounding fabric. Seams in 686 garments can be fully taped throughout the garment or taped only at critical areas to further ensure quality workmanship and guarantee waterproofing.
Cross-venting is achieved through deliberately designed zippered vent placement, much like windows in a house. Open one vent and air will enter and circulate. But if two are opened air will flow through the garment creating a cross-breeze that evaporates moisture and rapidly cools the body.
RECCO® technology enables rapid directional pinpointing of your precise location using harmonic radar compatible with a multitude of search instruments making you searchable to the rescuers. The reflectors are lightweight passive transponders that require no power or activation to function. RECCO® reflectors are designed to last a lifetime and do not age or wear out. If not mechanically damaged, they will last forever. The integrated RECCO® avalanche system is utilized by more than 600 rescue organizations worldwide to assist in efficient location of burials.
BOA® compatible leg gaiters allow you to tighten your top boa on the fly, without letting the elements get to you.
Great fit. Feels snug but permits layering and stretch is subtle. Drilled the bib on it's first day. Multiple deep powder forest runs, branch whips and some solid tumbles (in both pow and a couple on groomers due to visibility issues). No snow entry, no wet through (though most chairs were covered and dry). Really impressed with everything about them so far - just hope they hold up for a long time!
