Found on our GORE-TEX and GLCR styles, articulation seams are placed in high mobility areas for comfort, room for layering, and to maximize mobility.
The GORE-TEX membrane is created as a series of pores. Each pore is 20,000 times smaller than a water drop, yet large enough for vapor to pass through. This creates the ultimate membrane for keeping the inside of your garment dry while still allowing moisture and perspiration to pass through, effectively regulating your body temperature while keeping you comfortable inside your jacket or pants. GORE-TEX guarantees you will stay dry and warm in any condition, for the life of your garment. All GORE-TEX fabrics are bluesign® approved, meeting the highest environmental standards.
BOA® compatible leg gaiters allow you to tighten your top boa on the fly, without letting the elements get to you.
Cross-venting is achieved through deliberately designed zippered vent placement, much like windows in a house. Open one vent and air will enter and circulate. But if two are opened air will flow through the garment creating a cross-breeze that evaporates moisture and rapidly cools the body.
The seams where pieces of fabric are brought together are the most likely spot for moisture to intrude into a garment. The seam taping process prevents this by making the seams as waterproof as their surrounding fabric. Seams in 686 garments can be fully taped throughout the garment or taped only at critical areas to further ensure quality workmanship and guarantee waterproofing.

Much more room for layering, less constricting for a comfortable feel.

Make sure the tape is straight and taut in back as well. | HIP Measure circumference around the fullest part of the hip, as shown in the diagram to the right. | FRONT RISE Lay garment flat with zipper facing up. Measure from top of the waistband to the crotch point. For back rise, flip garment over and measure from top of waistband to the same crotch point (including the gusset). |
